How pedal assist actually works (and which mode to pick)

Eco, Tour, Sport, Turbo: what each assist level does, how it affects your battery and which one suits each of our routes.

The most common question at the hub is some version of “so do I still have to pedal?” Yes, you do. And that is exactly why e-bikes feel so good.

The motor listens to your legs

A torque sensor in the bottom bracket measures how hard you push on the pedals and adds a matching boost from the motor. Push gently and you get a gentle nudge. Stand up on a climb and the motor gives you everything it has. Stop pedalling and the motor stops too.

Four modes, four personalities

  1. Eco. A light tailwind. Perfect on the flat and the most battery-friendly.
  2. Tour. The all-day setting. Rolling hills feel like gentle slopes.
  3. Sport. Punchy and lively. Ideal for forest climbs and quick getaways at traffic lights.
  4. Turbo. Maximum boost for steep ramps. Use it in short bursts to save battery.

Shift down before the climb, not halfway up it. Your knees and your battery will thank you.

When you book, the form estimates how much battery you will have left for your chosen tour and fitness level. On longer days your guide carries spares, so you can ride in whichever mode makes you smile.
